The central government of Indonesia established Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) as one of the five priority areas or tourism destinations for infrastructure development in 2020.

This was conveyed by the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo in a written speech read by the Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Regional Secretary, Ir. Ben Polo Maing of the 74th Day of Public Service PU ceremony on Governor's Office Square on Tuesday (3/12/2019).

Labuan Bajo is a fishing town located at the western end of the large island of Flores in the Nusa Tenggara region of east Indonesia. It is the capital of the West Manggarai Regency (Kabupaten Manggarai Barat), one of the eight regencies which are the major administrative divisions of Flores.

According to Jokowi, infrastructure development in five priority destinations in 2020, namely Lake Toba Tourism Destinations in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in NTB, Labuan Bajo in NTT and Manado Likupang in North Sulawesi.

He explained, the whole development agenda had to have an impact on the promotion of the MSME class, tourism development and job creations. The use of technology today is very important, including field of work and infrastructure development.

"I appeal that our infrastructure development must be supported by technology and applicable research results so it will produce quality development," he said. 

Even though the technology is absolutely used in infrastructure development the use of technology should  be able to open jobs, starting from the planning process to the stage of infrastructure utilization. It said, the government will continue construction of 60 dams,
1000 reservoirs, 500,000 hectares of new irrigation networks, 2,500 km of toll roads and 60,000 km of new roads for five years.
In fact, there is also a million housing program for low-income people.

In a written speech Jokowi also said that the government would move the country's capital to East Kalimantan with the concept of smart metropolis. Head of PUPR Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Ir. Maxi Nenabu, M.T said NTT will also receive few allocation of 60 dams. "
People who have the responsibility at BWS are preparing it. There are already location plans that have the potential to build dams," Maksi said.

In addition to built in Timor the dam will also built in Sumba and Flores Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Maksi Also said that the planned construction in NTT, especially for the Kolhua and Manikin Dams wa temporarily underway, while the Kolhua Dam, there were still issues to be resolved. (*)
