After Jesus rose from the dead, He spent forty days on earth. He appeared many times to His Apostles and to His other disciples. He instructed them on many things and prepared them for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

After forty days had passed, Jesus ascended into heaven. Christ’s Ascension into heaven is described in Luke 24:50-53, in Mark 16:19, and in the Acts of the Apostles 1:6-12.

Though Jesus ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, He promised that He would be with us always.

We can meditate on Jesus’ Ascension into heaven and on how we can one day join Him in heaven ourselves.

In this Ascension Novena, let us offer prayers so that we may more fully appreciate this mystery of our faith and may one day spend eternity in heaven with God!
