Pada bab ini, murid akan mempelajari tentang aktif menggunakan media sosial. 

Media sosial adalah aplikasi atau platform digital yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk berinteraksi, berkomunikasi, membuat, dan berbagi konten secara daring tanpa batasan ruang dan waktu.

Platform ini memfasilitasi interaksi sosial secara dua arah antara individu atau kelompok, seperti membuat profil, terhubung dengan orang lain, dan berbagi pemikiran, foto, atau video. 

Contoh platform media sosial yakni Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, X (dulu Twitter) hingga WhatsApp.

Sebagai latihan pemahaman, pada soal Bahasa Inggris kelas 12 halaman 111, 112, dan 113 Kurikulum Merdeka, murid diminta untuk menjawab sejumlah pertanyaan berdasarkan dialog tentang pengalaman mengunggah hal-hal kasar di internet/media sosial.

Soal itu terdapat pada Buku Bahasa Inggris Life Today SMA/MA Kelas XII yang ditulis oleh Susanti Retno Hardini dkk terbitan Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi (Kemdikbudristek) cetakan pertama tahun 2022.

2.  Put the statements in the correct group

d. Just being really mean. It is not necessary, not needed.

e. Normally it was like an in-joke, or something that happened at school, or, you know, something that we’d been talking about.

f. I started crying because I felt so guilty for saying such mean things.

g. please make sure you talk to a trusted adult or maybe you might even want to talk to your friend.

h. You know, apologize to the person that you may have upset.

i. If it’s somebody that you know, let them understand why you did it. 

j. But, remember, should anything throw you off, you can talk to an adult you trust.

Do you agree or disagree with Dean’s recommendation? Explain.

Answer: I agree with that recomendation. If there is someone you can trust, you can tell it. Talking to other people can make you feel more relieved.

b. According to you, how do you stay safe if you want to post things online?

Answer: I usually turn off the comments column to prevent bad comments.

c. What would you do if you posted things online and then you realize it was mean and hurtful?

Answer: I will delete the post. If possible, I will also apologize to the person concerned.
